About the role#
The Student CEO (SCEO) leads all aspects of a Saxbys cafe operation. This position provides undergraduate students with ownership of a business while developing skills in team management, community engagement, and financial oversight. You will serve as the face of the brand on campus and manage the day-to-day operations of the cafe.
What you'll do#
- Build and lead a team of peers through recruiting, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Establish the cafe as a community hub through hospitality, partnerships, and local initiatives.
- Drive profitability by managing sales growth, labor costs, inventory, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain high standards for product quality and the guest experience.
- Communicate the company mission and values to stakeholders, guests, and potential team members.
- Collaborate on strategic initiatives with the Operations Lead.
- Generate content for social media and execute promotional campaigns.
- Assist in identifying, recruiting, and developing talent for the cafe.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies.
- Status as an undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh in good academic standing.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in academic, professional, or volunteer settings.
- Prior Saxbys cafe experience, or experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail is preferred.
- Ability to work 30-40 hours per week during cafe operating hours.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and smile for extended periods.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and ascend or descend ladders, stairs, and ramps.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 35 lbs.
