About the role#
The Student CEO (SCEO) leads all aspects of a Saxbys cafe operation at SUNY Plattsburgh. This role provides undergraduate students with ownership of a business while developing leadership skills in team management, community engagement, and financial operations. You will manage a team of approximately 45 peers and work closely with the Operations Lead to drive business performance.
What you'll do#
- Build and lead a high-performing team by recruiting, training, and coaching staff.
- Establish the cafe as a community cornerstone through hospitality and local partnerships.
- Drive cafe profitability by managing sales growth, labor costs, inventory, and operational efficiency.
- Serve as the face of Saxbys on campus and communicate the company mission to guests and stakeholders.
- Collaborate on strategic initiatives and provide regular performance updates to the Operations Lead.
- Assist in local marketing efforts and talent development for the cafe.
What you'll need#
- Must be an undergraduate student at SUNY Plattsburgh in good academic standing.
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in academic, professional, or volunteer settings.
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail is preferred.
- Ability to work 30-40 hours per week during cafe operating hours.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 35 lbs, and perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, and using ladders.
