About the role#
The Student CEO (SCEO) leads all aspects of a Saxbys cafe operation at SUNY Plattsburgh. This role provides undergraduate students with ownership of a business, focusing on team development, community engagement, and financial management through the Saxbys Experiential Learning Platform.
What you'll do#
- Build and lead a high-performing team of peers through recruiting, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Establish the cafe as a community cornerstone by delivering exceptional hospitality and building local partnerships.
- Drive cafe profitability by managing sales growth, labor costs, inventory, and operational efficiency while maintaining high standards for product quality.
- Serve as the face of Saxbys on campus, representing the company mission and values to guests and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Operations Lead on strategic initiatives and provide regular updates on cafe performance.
- Assist the marketing team with local initiatives and promotional campaigns to drive cafe awareness.
- Support the recruiting team in identifying and developing talent for cafe positions.
What you'll need#
- Must be an undergraduate student at SUNY Plattsburgh in good academic standing.
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in academic, professional, or volunteer settings.
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail is preferred.
- Ability to work 30-40 hours per week during cafe operating hours.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and smile for extended periods, stoop, kneel, and lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, and ramps.
