About the role#
This internship is a full-time, paid position based in Warrenville, Illinois, for the Summer 2027 term. You will join a project team within our Grid business unit. You will work under the direction of senior engineers to assist with project execution and design tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design of new, modified, or upgraded transmission and distribution projects.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and design documents.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data for reporting purposes.
- Prepare documents and specifications for the procurement of structures, equipment, and installation services.
- Solve engineering problems using data and tools like automation, scripting, or AI to improve workflows and design efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Candidates in other engineering disciplines may be considered if they have relevant coursework in statics, geotechnical engineering, strength of materials, or electrical power.
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program is preferred.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, independent work style.
- Ability to identify issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in your community or on campus.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in this business area is a plus.
- Proficiency in programming or scripting, such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel, is valued.

- We offer a hybrid work arrangement, which requires three days per week in the office.
