About the role#
This summer 2027 internship places you within our Grid business unit. You will join a project team to support senior engineers with the execution of transmission and distribution projects. This role involves a hybrid schedule, requiring three days per week in the office.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design of new infrastructure, modifications, and upgrades.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and project designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data.
- Prepare documents for the procurement of major equipment, structures, and installation services.
- Use modern tools and automation to solve engineering problems, improve workflows, and verify results.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor or Master of Science program for Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. Students in other engineering disciplines may be considered if they have relevant coursework in statics, strength of materials, geotechnical, or electrical power.
- Strong academic background, with a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify issues, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program is preferred.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in this business area is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in campus or community settings.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel for scripting and automation is valued.
