About the role#
This internship position is based in our Grid business unit for the summer of 2027. You will work on a project team alongside senior engineers to assist in the execution of transmission and distribution projects. This includes work on new designs as well as modifications and upgrades to existing infrastructure. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and related data for project reporting.
- Assist in power designs and prepare documents for the procurement of major equipment, structures, and installation services.
- Use modern tools, including automation and AI, to improve workflows and create cost-effective designs.
- Solve engineering problems by using data and verifying results with sound engineering judgment.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor or Master of Science program in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong academic performance, with a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction as a proactive self-starter.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify issues, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in campus or community settings.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in this business area is valued.
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program is preferred.
Location & details#
- The role is based in Elkridge, Maryland.
- This is a hybrid position with an expectation of three days per week in the office.
