About the role#
This summer 2027 internship places you within our Grid business unit. You will work on a project team to support the design of new transmission and distribution projects, as well as modifications and upgrades to existing infrastructure. You will work under the direction of senior engineers to apply your academic background to real-world power design challenges.
What you'll do#
- Assist team members in executing project work.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and associated data for project reporting.
- Contribute to power designs and prepare documents for the procurement of major equipment, structures, and installation services.
- Use modern tools, including automation and AI, to solve problems, improve workflows, and deliver cost-effective designs.
- Use programming or scripting languages like Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel to automate calculations and design checks.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a BS or MS program in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Students in other engineering majors may be considered if they have relevant coursework in civil, geotechnical, strength of materials, statics, or electrical power.
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program is preferred.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as a proactive self-starter.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in your campus or community.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in this business area is a plus.
- We do not provide work authorization sponsorship for this position.

- Modality: Hybrid, with three days per week in the office.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
