About the role#
As a Transmission & Distribution Engineer Intern, you will join our Grid business unit for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside senior engineers on project teams to support the design of new transmission and distribution systems, as well as modifications and upgrades to existing infrastructure. This is a full-time, paid internship that offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days per week in the office.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the preparation of engineering designs, calculations, and specifications.
- Help track and evaluate project progress, activities, and data.
- Participate in power design tasks and prepare procurement documents for major equipment, structures, and installation services.
- Use data and modern tools, including automation and AI, to solve engineering problems and improve design workflows.
- Build or use automation to draft design documentation, summarize technical reports, or run calculations.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- A strong academic background, with a minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize issues, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in your community or on campus.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in a related field is valued.
