About the role#
As a Substation Engineer Intern, you will join our Grid business unit for the summer of 2027. You will work on a project team to support the design and modification of transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage systems. You will work under the direction of senior engineers to help execute project tasks.
What you'll do#
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities and progress to assist with project reporting.
- Help prepare specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and installation services.
- Use data and modern tools, including automation and agentic AI, to improve workflows and deliver cost-effective designs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
- Coursework in coding, 3D modeling, and design, along with experience using agentic AI.
- Knowledge of design techniques and principles for producing technical plans, blueprints, and models.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
