About the role#
As a Substation Engineer Intern, you will join a project team within our Grid business unit. You will support senior engineers on projects involving new designs, modifications, and upgrades for transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage systems. This role is based in Phoenix, Arizona, for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data to support project reporting.
- Contribute to power designs and prepare specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and installation services.
- Solve engineering problems by using data and modern tools, including automation and agentic AI, to improve workflows and create cost-effective designs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree program, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
- Coursework in coding, 3D modeling, and design, along with experience using agentic AI.
- Knowledge of design techniques and principles used to produce technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- The ability to visualize parts in 3D without computer assistance.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
