    About the role#

    As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Intern, you will join our Nuclear Power Group for the summer of 2027. You will work on a project team alongside senior engineers to support the design, modification, and upgrade of nuclear power plant systems. This role involves applying control theory and technical knowledge to improve the functionality of plant components like sensors, digital controllers, and turbines.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
    • Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data for project reporting.
    • Support the execution of project work for nuclear power plant systems.
    • Use automation and data tools to solve engineering problems, improve workflows, and draft design documentation.

    What you'll need#

    • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, specifically Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
    • A strong academic background in analog and digital control systems, systems engineering, mechatronics, or robotics.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
    • Experience or coursework in programming or scripting, such as Python or MATLAB, is valued.

    • This internship is located in Chicago, Illinois.
    • This is a full-time, on-site position for the summer of 2027.
    • This position is paid, with an hourly rate between $18.00 and $30.00.
