About the role#
As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Intern, you will join a project team within the Nuclear Power Group. You will work under the direction of senior engineers to improve the functionality of nuclear power plants. This role involves a blend of electrical and mechanical engineering principles, along with control theory, to support plant systems and components.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering team members with project execution.
- Help prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Work on the design of new systems or modifications to existing power plant components and structures.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and associated data for reporting.
- Apply your background in electronic process sensors, digital controllers, and hardware like pumps, valves, and heat exchangers.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, specifically in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Coursework in analog and digital control systems, systems engineering, mechatronics, or robotics.
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program is preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior internship or co-op experience is a plus.
- An understanding of the practical application of engineering principles and technology.
