    About the role#

    As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer Intern, you will work with senior engineers on project teams. You will support the design of new power plants, modifications to existing power generation facilities, plant controls improvements, and new upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities. This role provides an opportunity to apply your academic background to real-world engineering projects through mentoring, classroom-style technical sessions, and on-the-job training.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with the design of process control systems.
    • Prepare specifications for the procurement of I&C equipment and installation services.
    • Develop design deliverables such as P&IDs, I/O lists, control panel designs, cause & effect matrices, control narratives, network architecture, cable schedules, and location plans.
    • Solve engineering problems using modern tools, including automation and AI.
    • Build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation.

    What you'll need#

    • Active enrollment in a BS or MS degree program in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
    • Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program is preferred.
    • An emphasis on control systems is preferred.
    • Ability to apply I&C engineering principles to project design and technical problem solving.
    • Proficiency with MS Office, specifically MS Excel and Access.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience on campus or in the community.
    • Previous engineering internship or co-op experience is a plus.
    • Knowledge of design techniques and principles for technical plans and drawings.

    • Location: Englewood, Colorado.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Work Modality: Hybrid (in-office 3 days per week).
    • Status: Full-time, paid internship.
    • Note: This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship.
