About the role#
The Agronomy Internship provides students and recent graduates with practical experience in a team environment. You will work alongside experienced leaders to gain exposure to golf course maintenance, turfgrass management, irrigation, equipment care, and natural area stewardship. This role involves daily course preparation and specialized projects to help you develop an understanding of the care and teamwork required to maintain playing conditions.
What you'll do#
- Assist with daily course setup, mowing, bunker maintenance, and routine tasks.
- Safely operate a variety of golf course and construction equipment.
- Learn the Toro Lynx central control system and assist with irrigation tasks.
- Participate in fertilizer and pesticide applications, including calibration and recordkeeping.
- Assist with maintaining natural areas, including sand barrens and tree groves.
- Perform turfgrass cultural practices such as aerifying, topdressing, and rolling.
- Support the maintenance of grass tennis courts and aquatic areas.
- Gain exposure to equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a turfgrass management program or a related field.
- A positive attitude and an eagerness to learn.
- Ability to listen, follow direction, and communicate clearly.
- Willingness to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Availability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and during early mornings or weekends.

- Location: Nekoosa, Wisconsin.
- Term: Summer 2027 (Preferred availability from April or May through October 2027).
- Modality: On-site, full-time.
About Sand Valley
Sand Valley is a golf resort and community situated on 12,000 acres in central Wisconsin. Founded in 2016 by Michael and Chris Keiser, the property features five golf courses and a 16-court grass tennis facility. The resort provides year-round outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and ice hockey. It employs between 201 and 500 people.
