About the role#
As a Substance Use Disorder Intern at Sagent Behavioral Health, you will gain hands-on experience across the 12 Core Functions of addiction counseling. You will work directly with patients to support their recovery while receiving weekly clinical supervision. This role includes shadowing opportunities in other service areas and access to internal CEUs.
What you'll do#
- Manage a small caseload of individual clients.
- Conduct patient intakes and assessments to guide treatment planning.
- Co-facilitate SUD process groups and lead individual therapy sessions.
- Create person-centered treatment plans and clinical progress notes.
- Develop and present psycho-educational lectures for group sessions.
- Collaborate with the treatment team on individualized care plans.
- Maintain patient records in compliance with 245G state standards.
- Attend all clinical staff meetings, trainings, and weekly supervision.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an associate, bachelor, or master degree program for Alcohol and Drug counseling, Co-occurring disorders, or a related field.
- Eligibility to pursue LADC/ADC-T, LPCC, LGSW, or LMFT licensure upon program completion.
- Enrollment in a formal practicum or internship through your academic program.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism and integrity in a clinical setting.
- Previous work or volunteer experience in fields like inpatient mental health or residential programs is preferred.
