Assistant CNC Operator - Afternoon Shift (Co-op)

About the role#

The Assistant CNC Operator (Co-op) supports production by setting up, adjusting, and maintaining CNC machinery. This role involves following work orders to produce parts that meet safety and quality standards while contributing to the efficiency of the afternoon shift.

What you'll do#

• Set up, adjust, and operate CNC machinery according to work orders and specifications.
• Monitor machine performance and perform troubleshooting when necessary.
• Visually inspect parts after each machine cycle and perform required inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Ensure parts are manufactured to quality standards and verify correct run quantities.
• Use manual pump trucks, cranes, and lift devices to move materials and finished products.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow all organizational and safety practices, including the use of required PPE.
• Assist with production planning and documentation for the afternoon shift.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Enrolled and eligible for a 4-month Co-op work term starting in the Fall of 2026.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Excellent mechanical and mathematical aptitude with strong manual dexterity.
• Attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, reaching, and handling parts.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment or as a CNC operator is considered an asset.

Location & details#

• Location: Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada.
• Term: Fall 2026 (September 2026 – December 2026).
• Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 4:00pm – 2:00am (38 hours per week).
• Compensation: $21.50 – $29.40 per hour, plus a $1 shift premium per hour.
• Modality: On-site.
