About the role#
Royal Electric Company is hiring an Estimating Intern for the Fall 2026 term at our Sacramento office. This role provides hands-on experience within our estimating team, allowing you to apply your academic background to real-world construction projects. You will work in a desk-based environment and learn the full estimating life cycle from our experienced staff.
What you'll do#
- Read project plans and perform quantity takeoffs.
- Review technical specifications to identify project requirements.
- Reach out to sub-contractors and vendors.
- Build bills of materials to obtain vendor quotes.
- Coordinate with the lead estimator to ensure takeoffs and quotes are completed on time.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Construction Management, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office software.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on problem-solving.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Experience with Bluebeam or Live Count is a plus, as is knowledge of electrical or low-voltage construction scopes.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and comply with all safety standards and PPE requirements.
