About the role#
As a HITL Engineering Intern, you will work with real hardware, incomplete specifications, and failures. You will perform structured debugging and use engineering judgment to solve problems. You will work closely with your mentor and other employees to grow your technical and professional skills. This role is based in Long Beach, California, and requires full-time, on-site attendance for at least 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, maintain, and operate Hardware In The Loop (HITL) systems and automation tools.
- Apply engineering and industry concepts to address real challenges.
- Attend frequent 1-on-1 meetings with mentors and supervisors to discuss progress.
- Participate in tech talks and networking events with other interns and employees.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver results.
- Lead development projects without direct supervision.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as internships, laboratory work, or personal projects.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and work within small, high-performing teams.
- Preferred: A GPA of 3.5 or above and 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Preferred: Knowledge of Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or Python.
