This 6-week paid internship is designed for students currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology program. The program provides hands-on experience in the PeriOperative department, offering 40 hours of work per week to supplement classroom education and assist in the transition to a professional career.
What you'll do#
Interns rotate through various clinical areas to gain practical experience in the following:
- Anesthesia support
- Surgical case preparation
- Sterile technique application
- Surgical scrub, including donning and doffing of sterile attire
- Handling and sterilization of surgical instruments
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Demonstrated understanding of aseptic techniques.
- Basic computer skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- One year of patient care or operating room experience in an accredited hospital is preferred.
- Ability to perform medium work, including exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

- Term: Summer 2025 (starting June 16th).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site.
- Locations: Rochester General Hospital, Unity Hospital, Newark Wayne Community Hospital, Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic, and United Memorial Medical Center.
