About the role#
The Assistant Director of Career Development & Student Employment Manager supports students as they transition to college and work toward their career goals. This role promotes career awareness and manages services that measure student success. You will work across divisions to help students build confidence and plan for their future.
What you'll do#
- Provide one-on-one career advising to undergraduate and graduate students regarding majors, internships, and job searches.
- Assist students with resume development, cover letters, and interview preparation.
- Design, implement, and manage hiring, onboarding, and training processes for the Roanoke Rovers pooled student employment program.
- Serve as the primary liaison with Human Resources regarding student employment policies and compliance.
- Manage and support career services technology systems, including Handshake and Navigate.
- Serve as the primary contact for First Destination Survey data collection, maintenance, and reporting.
- Collaborate with staff and academic departments to design career development programming.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s Degree.
- At least 2 years of experience in an educational setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with student information systems such as Colleague, Navigate, and Handshake is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A commitment to student success and a customer service orientation.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
