About the role#
This is a paid, hands-on internship within the Professional Services Group. You will gain a broad understanding of the insurance business through real-world experience and on-the-job training. Your work will focus on design and miscellaneous professional liability, supporting the underwriting, risk management, and operations functions.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with staff to assist underwriting, risk management, operational, and support teams.
- Analyze and interpret data from various sources to support business processes.
- Prepare quotes and attend department meetings.
- Work across business units to collect and organize information.
- Complete project-based assignments.
- Participate in the RLI Summer Internship program, which includes travel to the home office in Peoria, IL, to network with other interns and present to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in any major, with a strong preference for a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Ability to analyze and resolve basic issues using critical thinking.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A strong work ethic, integrity, and reliability.
- Ability to work independently and maintain technical accuracy.
- Excellent customer service skills.
