About the role#
Ricoh Company, Ltd. is seeking a Robotics Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Boulder, Colorado. You will work on industrial automation projects, gaining experience with robotic systems, simulation-driven training, and digital twin technology.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of robotic systems and components.
- Contribute to control architectures using ROS2.
- Develop and integrate sensor fusion techniques across various sensing modalities.
- Support algorithm development for computer vision, object detection, and pose estimation.
- Train, fine-tune, and evaluate deep learning models for object detection and pose estimation.
- Collect and curate large-scale synthetic training data in NVIDIA Isaac Sim.
- Support robot training in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab, including reinforcement learning and imitation learning experiments.
- Validate simulation-trained perception models and policies on physical cobot hardware to support sim-to-real transfer.
- Contribute to system development on x86 platforms with NVIDIA GPU acceleration.
- Support initiatives using NVIDIA Omniverse for visualization, simulation, and digital twin environments.
- Assist with hardware and software integration across robotics, vision, production printers, and workflow systems.
- Document project progress and contribute to proof-of-concept demonstrations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master’s program in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++.
- Experience with robotics and vision libraries such as ROS2, OpenCV, and PCL.
- Coursework, research, or project experience with deep learning for computer vision, including hands-on use of PyTorch.
- Understanding of sensors like cameras, LiDAR, and depth sensors, plus hardware/software integration on robotic platforms.
- Familiarity with collaborative robots and robotic arm kinematics.
- Experience with ROS2 middleware, simulation frameworks, and motion planning libraries.
- Exposure to object detection and pose estimation methods for manipulation and localization.
- Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim or Isaac Lab.
- Familiarity with reinforcement learning or imitation learning for manipulation and grasping.
- Awareness of sim-to-real transfer techniques.
- Experience with GPU-accelerated computing on x86 and interest in embedded platforms.
- Knowledge of computer graphics concepts and digital twin applications.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to technical detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
