About the role#
The Student Financial Services Counselor acts as the primary contact for the department. You will manage incoming emails, answer phone calls, and assist visitors at the front desk. This role focuses on helping students and families understand financial aid, account balances, and money management. You will work within a hybrid model to support the financial operations of the college.
What you'll do#
- Counsel students and families on financial aid eligibility, funding, and application procedures.
- Manage student account functions, including payment processing, invoicing, and reconciling receivables.
- Conduct outreach to resolve outstanding student account balances.
- Verify student scholarship eligibility and track outside funding sources.
- Assist with federal verification processes to ensure compliance with Title IV regulations.
- Generate student statements and tax forms, including 1098-T and Canadian tax documents.
- Support the hiring, training, and management of student employees.
- Distribute financial literacy materials and participate in orientation and recruitment events.
- Maintain office supplies and stay current on federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two years of experience in financial aid or student financial services.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to assist a diverse community.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and student information databases.
- Familiarity with financial literacy or financial aid principles.
- Knowledge of Title IV regulations and Workday Student software is preferred.

- This position is based in Providence, Rhode Island.
- The role is full-time, working 35 hours per week.
- This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
