About the role#
Redwood Materials is building the domestic supply chain for battery materials. Our early careers program is the starting point for the engineers, scientists, and operators who run our facilities. This role owns the program end to end, including strategy, budget, university partnerships, hiring manager enablement, and the transition of interns to full-time roles. You will sit within the Talent Acquisition team and work with Engineering, Operations, R&D, and the People team to scale the program across our sites and expand it into co-op and new-grad tracks.
What you'll do#
- Set the annual intern headcount plan and own the program budget and operating calendar.
- Run the full intern lifecycle from sourcing and offers through onboarding.
- Manage relocation, mid-point reviews, final presentations, and conversion decisions.
- Build and own the target school strategy, including attending campus and virtual recruiting events.
- Train intern managers on scoping projects, providing feedback, and making conversion calls.
- Run calibration to ensure intern performance and offer decisions remain consistent.
- Design and deliver the summer program, including site tours, executive speaker series, and cohort projects.
- Own program metrics such as offer acceptance, conversion rate, school yield, cost per hire, and retention.
- Report on program health to leadership.
- Partner with Legal on work authorization, HR Operations on system workflows, and Communications on employer brand content.
What you'll need#
- Experience owning an internship or early-careers program end to end, ideally in manufacturing, hardware, energy, automotive, or industrial environments.
- A track record of growing or rebuilding a program rather than maintaining one.
- Comfort owning a budget and defending it with data.
- Ability to influence engineering leaders and site general managers without formal authority.
- Experience as a hands-on operator who recruits, closes, and troubleshoots directly.
- Deep familiarity with the university ecosystem, including career services, faculty, and student organizations.
- Fluency in applicant tracking systems, with a preference for Greenhouse, and the ability to build reporting from them.
- Experience with co-op, apprenticeship, rotational, or new-grad programs.
- Experience with community college workforce partnerships.
- Experience with international student hiring and work authorization.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site role.
- Locations: McCarran, Nevada and San Francisco, California.
