About the role#
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Rakuten AI User Experience team. You will work on advancing our AI user experience framework to serve as a core component across the Rakuten product ecosystem. This role is designed for those who want to build flexible and immersive AI experiences. We welcome engineers from diverse backgrounds who are interested in transitioning into the AI space, and we provide mentorship and resources to support your growth.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and maintain front-end and back-end features for web applications.
- Create intuitive and responsive user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
- Develop server-side logic and APIs using languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, or Ruby.
- Build flexible, scalable Agentic AI frameworks using tools like LangChain.
- Design and manage databases including MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL.
- Integrate external APIs such as OpenAI, payment gateways, or analytics tools.
- Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality.
- Troubleshoot issues and resolve bugs across the full stack.
- Optimize application code, databases, and server configurations to reduce latency.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with at least one modern front-end framework like React, Angular, or Vue.
- Proficiency in back-end development with knowledge of languages such as C#, Java, Python, Node.js, Ruby, or PHP.
- Familiarity with building RESTful APIs and working with web development frameworks.
- Experience with data schema design and database management.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code while following coding standards.
- Experience with testing practices including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Experience with AI-related projects is preferred.
