About the role#
As an engineering intern, you will work with teams that design and maintain high-voltage transmission infrastructure. You will support projects that deliver power across regions while gaining experience with both traditional engineering methods and current industry tools.
What you'll do#
- Assist with overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
- Support drafting and mapping tasks using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
- Perform engineering calculations such as sag-tension analysis and pole loading checks under supervision.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and design packages for project deliverables.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during design reviews and field data collection.
- Implement engineering redlines and maintain organized records of project notes and drawings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree program for Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- Familiarity with design software like AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
- A basic understanding of design codes and standards, including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
- Strong attention to detail.

- Location: San Diego, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: $24.00 per hour.
- Status: Paid internship.
