About the role#
As an Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting substation design projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers and designers on real-world projects. This role focuses on physical layout, protection and control systems, and industry standards. It is a good fit for students interested in the energy industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist in designing physical substation components, including yard layouts, grounding, and control building arrangements.
- Support the development of protection and control schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material.
- Apply engineering standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Participate in quality reviews and collaborate with engineers to refine designs.
- Maintain project documentation and assist with engineering calculations.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Interest in learning about substation components and design principles.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering software.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
