About the role#
As an Engineering Intern for the Transmission Line team, you will work with engineers and project managers to design and maintain high-voltage transmission infrastructure. You will gain experience with engineering methods used to support the electric grid.
What you'll do#
- Assist with overhead transmission line design including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
- Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software for drafting and mapping.
- Perform engineering calculations such as sag-tension analysis and pole loading checks.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and design packages for project deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews, field data collection, and technical meetings.
- Work approximately 40 hours per week.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- Familiarity with design software like AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
- Basic understanding of design codes and standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.
- Ability to work in a team environment with attention to detail.
