About the role#
As an Engineering Intern for the Transmission Line team, you will work with engineers and project managers to design and maintain high-voltage transmission infrastructure. This role provides hands-on experience with engineering methods used to support the electric grid.
What you'll do#
- Assist with overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
- Support drafting and mapping tasks using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
- Perform engineering calculations like sag-tension analysis and pole loading checks under supervision.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and design packages for project deliverables.
- Implement engineering redlines and verify drawing accuracy.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and field data collection.
- Maintain organized records of design data and project notes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering at an ABET-accredited institution.
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
- Basic understanding of design codes and standards, including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.
- Ability to work in a team environment with strong organizational and communication skills.

- Schedule: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week.
