About the role#
As an Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting substation design projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers and designers to contribute to real-world projects. This role involves learning about physical layout, protection and control systems, and industry standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist in designing physical substation components including yard layouts, grounding, and control building arrangements.
- Support the development of protection and control schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material.
- Learn and apply engineering standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Participate in quality reviews and collaborate with engineers to refine designs.
- Maintain project documentation and contribute to team problem-solving discussions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- An interest in learning about substation components and design principles.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering software is a plus.
