About the role#
As a Design Technician Intern, you will support the manufacturing of medical devices by designing precision tooling, fixtures, and end-of-arm equipment. You will help ensure operational continuity and maintain high quality standards by creating technical solutions that reduce production downtime and control costs. This role requires translating customer requirements into designs while adhering to regulatory standards.
What you'll do#
- Design tooling and fixture solutions using Creo Parametric or SolidWorks to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Conduct design reviews with engineering and tooling teams to validate inputs and ensure manufacturability.
- Collaborate with customers, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to establish design requirements.
- Prepare and manage layout drawings and ensure all documentation meets quality systems and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze tool performance data to recommend design changes that improve tool life and reduce maintenance.
- Design, document, and provide scopes of work for tool modifications and repairs.
- Manage component inventory and coordinate with suppliers to complete purchase requisitions for materials.
- Apply injection molding principles and fabrication techniques to optimize designs.
What you'll need#
- 2-year technical or vocational degree, or equivalent engineering education.
- At least 5 years of related experience in injection molding.
- Proficiency in Creo Parametric or SolidWorks.
- Working knowledge of tooling practices and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to interpret customer drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
