About the role#
This is a PRN Pharmacy Intern position based in Columbia, South Carolina. You will work on-site to assist pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients. This role involves specialized tasks consistent with your intern certification status and requires adherence to state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and label drug orders under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Calculate and compound aliquot doses.
- Distribute and transport medications to patient care areas in a timely manner.
- Monitor inventory levels, stock shelves, and maintain a clean work environment.
- Receive or initiate verbal medication orders when authorized by a supervising pharmacist.
- Participate in training and provide support to departmental employees and students.
- Maintain required records and suggest improvements to procedures.
What you'll need#
- Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved technician course, or current enrollment or letter of acceptance in an accredited professional academic pharmacy program.
- Current registration with the State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy intern.
- Satisfactory progress in your academic program.
- Knowledge of national, state, and corporate pharmacy regulations and standards.
- Ability to handle urgent and stressful situations.
- Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of pharmacy terminology.
