About the role#
Prevention Links is seeking a BSW or MSW student for an internship at our Recovery High School in Roselle, New Jersey. This role offers hands-on experience supporting adolescents as they navigate substance use recovery alongside their academic goals. You will work with school staff to foster social-emotional growth, facilitate groups, and connect families with community resources. We look for individuals who are compassionate, dependable, and committed to helping young people build healthy futures.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual recovery support and help students identify personal goals.
- Facilitate weekly groups covering psychoeducation, emotional regulation, and life skills.
- Develop youth-tailored curriculum and activities that promote healthy decision-making.
- Assist with student intake interviews and maintain an updated guide of community resources.
- Collaborate with parents, school personnel, and outside programs to coordinate care.
- Document student progress and maintain accurate program records.
- Support the administration of urine drug screenings and manage specimen pickups.
- Organize guest speakers and assist with daily logistics like student lunch coordination.
- Participate in weekly supervision and attend required professional development meetings.
- Support students during social events, including occasional Saturday commitments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited BSW or MSW program seeking a field placement.
- A supervisor who holds an LSW or LCSW to meet clinical supervision requirements.
- A clear interest in adolescent development, behavioral health, and substance use recovery.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- A willingness to learn, receive supervision, and work collaboratively in a school setting.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site internship located in Roselle, New Jersey.
- The schedule requires two days per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM.
- This position is paid.
