About the role#
As a Respiratory Therapy Student, you will assist the Cardiopulmonary Department with patient care across all age groups. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist and will not make independent clinical decisions. This position is based at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Perform EKGs and assist therapists with their daily tasks.
- Complete oxygen rounds and retrieve necessary medical equipment.
- Maintain department supplies by stocking and stickering items.
- Manage administrative duties including filing, computer work, and completing reports.
- Clean equipment to ensure readiness for patient use.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma.
- Current enrollment in an AMA accredited respiratory care program.
- A limited permit to perform respiratory care in the State of Ohio.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients, doctors, and nurses.
- Ability to provide patient education and practice active listening.
- Basic secretarial skills, including typing, phone etiquette, and computer literacy with word processing software.
- Knowledge of respiratory care principles is helpful.
