About the role#
As a Student Respiratory Therapist, you work under the direction of a Respiratory Care Professional to provide care to patients. This role allows you to apply your clinical training in a hospital setting while maintaining compliance with Ohio respiratory care laws and hospital policies.
What you'll do#
- Provide respiratory care on a limited basis.
- Perform procedures for which your school has verified your initial competency.
- Initiate, maintain, troubleshoot, and wean oxygen therapy or treatment regimens as ordered by a physician.
- Educate patients about their disease process, treatments, and medications.
- Analyze and prioritize patient needs effectively.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in good standing in a Respiratory Care Program.
- A Limited Permit to perform Respiratory Care issued by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board.
- A copy of the Ohio Respiratory Care Board Verification of Education Form filed by your Program Director.
- Current BLS certification.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to complete all yearly clinical and didactic competencies.
