About the role#
Power Construction is hiring a Preconstruction Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Chicago. The program offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development training. We also provide housing for out-of-state interns.
What you'll do#
- Support the preconstruction team through all phases of estimating and project planning.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and value engineering recommendations.
- Assist with subcontractor solicitation, bid reviews, and negotiations.
- Maintain historical cost, unit pricing, and subcontractor databases.
- Utilize Revit models and project documentation to support estimating efforts.
- Develop a working knowledge of market costs, general conditions, and preliminary scheduling.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and subcontractors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or Finance.
- Interest in gaining hands-on experience in the construction industry.
- Ability to work on-site in Chicago.
