About the role#
American Bridge Company is seeking a Civil or Structural Engineering co-op student for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports the Freeport Container Port project in the Bahamas. You will work directly with our engineering and construction management staff on this large-scale marine infrastructure development.
What you'll do#
- Review structural and civil drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Track quantities and materials for concrete, steel, and marine structural components.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and daily reports.
- Conduct field observations and quality assurance checks with site engineering staff.
- Support surveying, layout verification, and as-built documentation.
- Assist with scheduling updates and progress tracking.
- Participate in site meetings and coordinate with subcontractors.
- Support QA/QC documentation for marine and structural works such as piling, sheet piling, and concrete decking.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil or Structural Engineering degree program with co-op or internship requirements.
- A strong interest in heavy civil, marine, or port infrastructure construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work on-site in Freeport, Bahamas for the full term.
- A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally.
