About the role#
As a Mechanical Technician Intern, you will gain hands-on experience at Phillips 66 Gas Compression Stations and Plants. You will work under the close guidance of an experienced mentor to learn basic maintenance practices, safety requirements, and technical tools. This role provides an introduction to Midstream operations, which includes the gathering, processing, and transport of natural gas and petroleum products.
What you'll do#
- Work side-by-side with experienced professionals on maintenance projects.
- Participate in performance reviews with your manager to receive coaching.
- Attend orientation, training events, field trips, and social activities.
- Give a presentation at the end of your internship about your projects and what you learned.
- Complete an online assessment within 7 days of submitting your application.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Natural Gas Compression, Gas or Diesel engine technology, or an equivalent technical program.
- Currently enrolled full-time with a graduation date in August 2027 or later.
- Ability to intern for at least 11 continuous weeks.
- Valid driver’s license and legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 45 pounds, climbing up to 50 feet, and working in harsh weather conditions.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment, maintain a clean-shaven face for respirator use, and respond to emergency calls.

- Compensation: $24.94 to $28.50 per hour, based on education level.
