About the role#
As a Food Safety Quality Assurance Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a 10-12 week program based at our Corporate HQ. You will work with FSQA professionals on projects involving microbial performance and moisture optimization. This role involves travel to all Perdue Foods Harvest facilities to conduct testing and interact with senior leadership.
What you'll do#
- Follow a pre-defined testing protocol for microbiological and moisture or retained water testing.
- Execute testing parameters across all Perdue Foods Harvest facilities.
- Compile and analyze data to validate retained water declarations.
- Present testing results and outcomes to the senior leadership team.
- Ensure all food safety metrics are achieved.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Master’s program focused on food science, food safety, or food microbiology.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher, with 3.25 preferred.
- Prior experience in a micro or chemistry laboratory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software.
- Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities.
- Preference is given to current PhD students.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship located in Salisbury, Maryland.
- The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- You may be exposed to varying temperatures and plant environments while conducting on-site testing.
