About the role#
The Greenkeeper Intern works under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent. You will perform routine manual labor and semi-skilled grounds maintenance across our golf courses. This is a full-time, paid position. You may be scheduled to work holidays and weekends as our courses are open seven days a week.
What you'll do#
- Operate mowers and string trimmers to maintain greens, aprons, tees, and surrounding areas like fence lines and hillsides.
- Set tee markers and cups on greens every day.
- Rake sand traps using power rakes.
- Assist with the construction of new greens, tees, and fairways, including grading soil, laying sod, and seeding.
- Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all equipment and report any mechanical issues to the team.
- Clean and maintain maintenance areas and equipment storage locations.
- Perform general course upkeep, including repairing greens with seed or grass plugs and clearing debris.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a two or four year Turfgrass Management degree or certificate program, or a related field.
- A valid driver license with 2 points or less.
- General knowledge of golf turf fundamentals and interest in the field.
- Prior experience in golf course or sports turf maintenance is preferred.
- Familiarity with golf terminology.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in Pebble Beach, California.
- The position is full-time and paid at $17.90 per hour.
- Housing is provided at a minimal cost for interns.
