About the role#
As a Greenkeeper Intern at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, you will work under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent. You will handle routine manual labor and semi-skilled grounds construction. This is an on-site, full-time position. You may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of several designated holes on the course. Because the resort operates seven days a week, your schedule may include weekends and holidays.
What you'll do#
- Operate mowers, string trimmers, and utility vehicles.
- Edge cart paths and maintain sand bunkers by raking and edging.
- Set tee markers and cups on greens daily.
- Maintain ball washers and replace flags and tee towels.
- Remove debris and sand or seed divots in tee and drop areas.
- Clean flower beds, dune areas, and forested sites.
- Maintain fluid and fuel levels for equipment and report any mechanical issues.
- Clean maintenance areas and wash pads after returning equipment.
- Assist with project work, including grading soil, laying sod, and seeding fairways, greens, and tees.
- Excavate and backfill trenches and ditches using hand tools.
- Repair greens using grass plugs or seed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a two or four year Turfgrass Management degree, certificate program, or a related field.
- A valid driver's license with 2 points or less.
- A willingness to learn and grow your current skill set.
- General knowledge of golf turf fundamentals and golf terminology.
- Prior experience in sports turf or golf course maintenance is preferred.
- A golf background is preferred.
