PCL Construction is seeking a Virtual Construction Student for the BC Region district to support innovative infrastructure projects. This full-time, paid position offers the opportunity to engage in challenging work assignments within a supportive environment. The role is available for a 4-8 month term starting in September 2026.
What you'll do#
- Sketch site plans using JPG underlays in AutoCAD.
- Assist in key planning development for construction schedules and site layout documents, including site safety, access, trailers, temporary electricity, and hoist access.
- Create tower crane and man/material hoist working drawings, including plans, elevations, and sections.
- Format plot styles and various AutoCAD settings.
- Create and update job report binders and work order forms.
- Develop familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) software, such as Autodesk, NavisWorks, ArchiCAD, Revit, 3D Studio Max, and Sketchup.
- Develop familiarity with scheduling programs like Navisworks and SureTrak.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Computer Engineering, Graphic Design, or Environmental Engineering.
- A strong desire to work in a construction environment.
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in computer software programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, and drafting.
- Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.

- Location: Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September start).
- Compensation: $19.88 - $24.38 per hour, determined based on completed school terms, relevant work terms, and role specifics.
