Building Envelope Student

About the role#

PCL Construction is seeking a Building Envelope Student to join the Toronto District team in Oakville, Ontario. This is a full-time, paid position available for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms. The role is on-site and focuses on supporting building envelope performance and quality assurance across various projects.

What you'll do#

• Review design documents to identify potential building envelope performance issues.
• Participate in the review of project submittals and attend project meetings and first installation reviews.
• Complete plant reviews, site reviews, and deficiency walks.
• Attend laboratory and field testing.
• Assist in developing remedial strategies for building envelope issues by collaborating with team members and manufacturers.
• Prepare site review reports and contribute to the preparation of internal quality documents.
• Coordinate building envelope events and meet with product suppliers to evaluate materials.
• Support the development of building envelope training materials.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
• Completion of a building envelope or building science course.
• Understanding of fundamental control layers within the building envelope, including air, water, vapour, and thermal control.
• Ability to read architectural drawings.
• Proficiency in computer software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and drafting programs.
• Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.

Location & details#

• Location: Oakville, Ontario.
• Duration: 4 or 8 months starting September 2026.
• Compensation: $21.37 - $31.33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
