PCL Construction is seeking an Engineering Student to join the team for the QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Program (HIEP). This role is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, for the Fall 2026 term. This is a full-time, paid position offering the opportunity to contribute to a complex, large-scale healthcare infrastructure project.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings, specific work scopes, and trade activities, including quote reviews and material quantity verification.
- Update deficiency logs and issue project warranties.
- Produce as-built drawings and maintain field drawing updates.
- Verify site conditions and coordinate them against project drawings.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and supervise sub-trade work.
- Set up and maintain project record-keeping systems.
- Create and update project schedules using Primavera P6 EPPM software and maintain graphical scheduling via AutoCAD.
- Monitor workforce productivity and coordinate progress photos.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program such as Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Electrical, Industrial, Computer, or Biomedical Engineering, or Architecture.
- A strong desire to work in a construction environment.
- Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in drafting and the application of computer software, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- Ability to manage and coordinate tasks effectively.

- Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
- Term: Fall 2026 (4 or 8 months starting September 2026).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $21.37 - $31.33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
