Engineering Student

About the role#

PCL Construction is seeking Engineering Students for the Fall 2026 term (September 2026 – December 2026). This is a full-time, paid, on-site position available in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Ottawa, Ontario. Students will gain experience through challenging work assignments within the Canadian Buildings Division.

What you'll do#

• Conduct deficiency walks and input or update deficiency logs.
• Coordinate and supervise sub-trade work and specific work scopes.
• Coordinate quality assurance reviews and participate in project meetings.
• Track site progress and coordinate progress photos.
• Verify site conditions against drawings and perform quantity take-offs.
• Coordinate, mark up, and produce as-built drawings.
• Conduct trade quote reviews, including verification of material quantities, hours, and rates.
• Set up and maintain project record keeping.

What you'll need#

• Currently working towards a degree or diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or Architecture.
• Experience with computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and drafting programs.
• Self-motivation with a hands-on approach to construction.
• Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.

• Locations: Halifax, Nova Scotia and Ottawa, Ontario.
• Term: Fall 2026 (4 months).
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $21.37 – $31.33 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
