About the role#
PCL Construction is seeking a Technical Writer Student to join the team at the North American Headquarters in Edmonton. This is a full-time, paid position for a 4-month term beginning September 8, 2026. You will support release readiness and user enablement by creating and maintaining clear documentation for enterprise applications.
What you'll do#
- Create, maintain, and improve user-facing documentation including work instructions, step-by-step guides, and process walkthroughs.
- Translate system functionality and feature changes into clear, intuitive instructions for end users.
- Ensure documentation reflects actual user workflows and delivered system behavior rather than just intended designs.
- Collaborate with Analysts, QA, and Training teams to validate documentation accuracy and participate in review cycles.
- Manage documentation impacts resulting from new features, process changes, and release updates.
- Maintain documentation standards, including structure and naming conventions, to ensure consistency across releases.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a program related to Communications, English, Computer Science, or Business Administration.
- Strong user-focused technical writing skills and experience creating instructional content for enterprise applications.
- Hands-on experience with ClickLearn or similar work-instruction and user enablement tools.
- Ability to translate complex system behavior into clear, non-technical language.
- Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments, including familiarity with tools like Azure DevOps or Jira.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple documentation streams across parallel releases.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
