About the role#
PCL Construction is seeking an HSE Student to join the Toronto District within the Canadian Buildings Division. This is a full-time, paid position available for a 4 or 8 month term starting in September 2026. The role is based on-site in Oakville, Ontario.
What you'll do#
- Assist the HSE Professional with site inspections and incidental investigations.
- Manage documentation including data entry, filing, and taking meeting minutes.
- Support the orientation process for new employees.
- Develop safety training materials and review project paperwork such as tailgate meetings and safe work procedures.
- Monitor and maintain the environmental program to ensure local legislative compliance.
- Analyze site-specific trends and incidents, then report findings to the district.
- Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to the workforce.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant program, such as Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Health Administration, or Civil Engineering.
- Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures.
- Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement compliance systems.
- Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce hazard exposure.
- Capability to determine incident causes and initiate corrective actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong willingness to learn.

- Compensation: $21.37 to $31.33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
