PCL Construction is seeking a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Student for the Ottawa District within the Canadian Buildings Division. This is a full-time, paid internship for the Fall 2026 term, running from September 2026 to December 2026.
What you'll do#
- Assist the HSE Professional with site inspections and incidental investigations.
- Manage project documentation, including data entry, SMC entries, meeting minutes, and filing.
- Support the orientation process for new employees.
- Develop training materials and review safety paperwork such as PSI, tailgate meetings, and safe work procedures.
- Monitor and maintain the environmental program.
- Analyze site-specific trends and incidents to report findings to the district.
- Gather, review, and distribute safety-related statistical information.
- Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to the workforce.
- Recognize and follow PCL and local legislative requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Health Administration, or Business Administration.
- Ability to implement HSE program elements, safe operating procedures, and systems that meet environmental compliance requirements.
- Capacity to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce hazard exposure.
- Ability to determine the root cause of an incident and initiate corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong willingness to learn.

- Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September – December).
- Compensation: $21.37 – $31.33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
