Engineering Student

About the role#

PCL Construction is seeking an Engineering Student to join the Atlantic Canada District for a full-time, four-month internship starting in September 2026. This role is based on-site in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

What you'll do#

• Conduct trade quote reviews to verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
• Perform deficiency walks and maintain deficiency logs.
• Issue warranties and manage project record-keeping.
• Coordinate and produce drawings, as well as verify site conditions against them.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and update project schedules.
• Coordinate and supervise sub-trade work while obtaining necessary scheduling information.
• Document project progress through photography.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in software including word processing, spreadsheets, and drafting programs.
• A self-motivated, hands-on approach to work.
• A genuine interest in working within a construction environment.
• Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.
