Engineering Student

About the role#

PCL Construction is seeking Engineering Students for the Canadian Buildings Division based in St. Johns, Newfoundland. This is a paid, full-time position available for 4 or 8-month terms starting in September 2026 (Fall 2026/Winter 2027). Candidates should be pursuing a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or Architecture.

What you'll do#

• Coordinate drawings and review trade quotes, including verifying material quantities, rates, and hours.
• Participate in project meetings and maintain project records.
• Update deficiency logs, issue warranties, and manage progress photos.
• Update field drawings and produce as-built drawings.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and verify site conditions against drawings.
• Coordinate and supervise sub-trade work while obtaining scheduling information.
• Maintain and update project schedules using Primavera P6 EPPM and AutoCAD.
• Layout site lines and grades using total station equipment.
• Monitor workforce productivity.

What you'll need#

• A strong desire to work in a construction environment.
• Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.
• Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Drafting knowledge and the ability to apply various computer software programs.

• Location: St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $21.37 - $31.33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
