Accounting Intern

About the role#

The Accounting Intern position at the Hawaii district offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience on real construction projects. This is a full-time, paid internship scheduled for Summer 2026, lasting three to four months.

What you'll do#

• Manage accounts receivable by creating and entering monthly pay applications and reconciling billings.
• Handle accounts payable tasks, including ensuring proper approval and timely entry of invoices and reconciling statements.
• Prepare monthly journal entries for the General Ledger.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with project personnel, suppliers, subcontractors, and owners.
• High level of detail orientation and accuracy.
• Ability to meet required deadlines.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Authorization to work in the United States. Please note that sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Ability to pass a substance abuse test.

• Location: Honolulu, Hawaii.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Pay: $27 to $32 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
